"Master! The one you spoke of is here!"

-THE WITCH SUMMONING THE GREAT AND POWERFUL ONE IN AN EGG'S GUIDE TO MINECRAFT - PART 12 - YO SOY EL REY DE MÉXICO!

The Witch is a minor character in An Egg's Guide to Minecraft. He is a minion of The Great and Powerful One who helps Steve on his journey, having mistaken him for his master, but changes his mind upon realizing who he is. He is voiced by Dan Lloyd.

Personality[]

For an unknown reason The Witch has a split personality; one with a personality of a villager and one other of a witch (a parody of Gollum.) When on his villager side he seems helpful to people but is usually interrupted by his other side. His Witch side seems alert and has deep respect for The Great and Powerful One. Despite this, he sometimes appears to forget whom he thinks he's talking to, such as when explaining to Steve about the statue.

Biography[]

An Egg's Guide to Minecraft[]

His only appearance is in Part 12. When Steve is stranded with a broken arm and Jason acting delirious, a mysterious figure races past in the background. Steve asks who's there, but the figure keeps running around behind him. Finally, Steve trips it and grabs The Witch, who is in his villager form, pinning him to a wall with his left arm. He demands to know who the stranger is. The Witch realizes that Steve looks familiar and begs him not to hurt him, while calling him "Powerful One". His other personality makes fun of his nose. Confused, Steve releases him. The Witch's witch personality shows him that Steve's arm is broken. He realizes this and tells him to wait while he gets something to fix it, running away into a rundown house and appearing to climb down a staircase. Steve investigates and finds him talking to himself while he digs through a chest at ground level. Suddenly, he comes up holding a healing potion and collides point-blank with Steve. Awkwardly, The Witch says that there never were stairs. He offers Steve the remedy, which heals his arm, and Steve asks him where they are. The Witch explains that it is an abandoned village and the statue was a shrine for The Great and Powerful One. He then notices Jason babbling and asks what's wrong with him, but his witch side snaps at him. He asks Steve why he came, still believing him to be The Great and Powerful One. Steve asks him where they might find a stronghold. The Witch points out the one past the village, but then realizes The Great and Powerful One should know where that is. Steve laughs and explains that he's not him, and The Witch gasps and runs off to talk to himself again. He suddenly realizes who Steve is and quickly wishes him luck before running off down the same imaginary stairs, making a lot of footsteps and a door click. He frantically searches the same chest for his hat, and once he puts it on, turns into his real form and summons The Great and Powerful One, with the message that the one he spoke of had been there. The statue causes an earthquake, which makes The Witch flee in terror.

Trivia[]

  • Before The Great and Powerful One left Minecraft, he is presumed to have told The Witch about Steve, prophesied his arrival, or even promised to lead him to the village.
  • The Witch miming stairs (and acknowledging that there were none) is based on an old joke where a character appears to climb down stairs while being partly hidden by a barrier, but in reality stays on ground level.
  • In the storyboards, The Witch's design included at least one missing tooth.
