The Beast is a running gag in An Egg's Guide to Minecraft and in the Villagers series. It is normally a perfectly ordinary and peaceful cow that is often mistaken by villagers for a dangerous, bloodthirsty creature, but sometimes George is mistaken for a beast as well.

An Egg's Guide to Minecraft[]
In Part 4, a villager runs to greet Jason and Steve and beg for their help in getting rid of a wild beast attacking their village. When Jason gets to the scene, the villager shows them where the beast is. Jason and Steve jump out and gasp, and the camera pans to a cow standing on the gravel path and mooing.
In Part 5, Steve is confused on where the wild beast is. The villager points out the cow, but Steve says, "That's a cow." The villager insists that it's really a fearsome Nether creature. Steve corrects him once again, but the villager doesn't believe him and they send their greatest warrior out to kill the cow. However, the warrior is another villager who is just as frightened of the cow as his fellow citizens. He needs to be pushed out to face the cow, and the villagers doing it run back to hide in a house. While Steve and Jason watch with the first villager, the warrior makes uncertain movements toward the cow, only to bump into its head and fall down, thinking he's dying. While Steve is talking to him, Jason thinks the cow looks familiar, only to realize from Episode 1 that it's a pig, so he decides to ride it. The villagers notice that Jason has "tamed" The Beast, and Jason introduces it as a pig.
The Beast makes a cameo in Part 6 when Jason is still sitting on it.
In Part 17, Alex orders a villager to attack The Beast with a wooden axe. He runs toward it, but stops and shakes his head at her, so she switches to a tulip. By evening, a villager runs past the cow and takes shelter in a house while Alex, Jason, and George watch in despair.
Villager TV (series)[]
In the original Villager TV, one of the shows features a giant cow attacking a city.
In Villager TV 3, The Beast is the one watching the TV. At the end, a villager walks in but spooks at the sight of it. He decides to watch the credits from the safety of the hallway.
Other[]
Jason sits on The Beast in How well do you know Element Animation? and asks if it's a cow, pig, or tree.
In Cow, Jason tells the viewers that The Beast is not a cow. Steve protests that it is, but Jason is insistent.
In Pig/Question 2, The Beast chases Villager #9, who tweets about it.
In Villager 4's Trip to the EuroGamer Expo 2013, Villager #4 sees a cutout of a cow and becomes frightened.
Trivia[]
- In Villager TV 3, the beast can hold a remote and (possibly) walk on two legs, but a villager walks in and is frightened of him.
- The villagers seem to regard both cows and pigs as wild beasts, though one child in An Egg's Guide to Minecraft - PART 18 - We're under ATTACK! knows what a pig is.
